Boys Hoops: Brentwood, MRH Prep for Holiday Tournaments

The teams went a combined 1-3 last week but look to rebound following a week away from games this week.

It was an entertaining week on the court for the two boys teams.

The MRH Blue Devils went 1-2 in the always exciting Webster Classic last weekend, with losses in its first two games against SLUH and Marquette, and a final day win over Oakville.

MRH is off this week, and actually doesn’t have any games scheduled until after Christmas.

But when the Devils do get back to action, it’ll be quite a doozy, with MRH traveling down to Poplar Bluff to play in the Christmas tournament against a field that’ll include Memphis Hillcrest* – a 2009 Missouri state champion that features No. 1 national football recruit Dorial Green-Beckham.

The Brentwood Eagles lost their only game of last week, 63-51 at Ladue, in a contest that was much closer than the final score indicated.

Will Erby had 13 points and Marc Powells had 12 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

This week, the Eagles have no games scheduled, but will spend the week prepping for the MICDS Holiday Tournament, which begins with first-round games on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Good morning Cedric. We actually play Memphis Hillcrest not Springfield Hillcrest. If we are fortunate enough to pull out that win, we would then face either Tupelo MS or Sylvan Hills AR (feat. 6'5 Archie Goodwin- Univ of Kentucky signee, ranked #2 shooting guard in the country). Also would like to say to the Patch, keep up the good work covering the small areas and have a blessed holiday.

I was just thinking, if you happen to see something.....like the sign in front of City Hall, or theRead More sign in Schnuck's parking lot....regarding something going on in Brentwood, now you can click on the "Post" board at the top of the page, and let people know what is happening in Brentwood. We have the new format so we can now post whatever we want. Just click and post. Anyone can do it too.

I doubt this discrepancy you think exists is because the editors have more of a connection toRead More Maplewood. I imagine it is because Maplewood officials and Chamber of Commerce members send press releases to the editors regarding upcoming events and news items. If you want your local community to have more of a presence in the Patch, I suggest you contact the proper officials in Brentwood and urge them to send such notices. Self-promotion for a community is a good thing, although in the case of Brentwood Days and other iconic Brentwood events, it was my understanding that the city didn't want it publicized and preferred it to be a smaller event.
