Brentwood 2011 Football Schedule Breakdown

The Eagles open their season Aug. 26 at Crystal City, and their home opener is on Sept. 9 against Wesclin.

The  Athletics Department marked the official start of its 2011-2012 sporting year by releasing the 2011 varsity and junior varsity football schedules.

The first day of fall practice for the Eagles was Monday, which also marked the official beginning of a new era for Brentwood football. New will lead the team through their its set of drills and two-a-day workouts.

Brentwood went 6-4 last year, and lost in the first round of the MSHSAA playoffs.

Herring, whose coaching experience includes stints at Hazelwood West and McCluer high schools, took over the Brentwood job after at Pine Ridge High in Deltona, FL.

“I am committed to continuing the winning football tradition,” Herring said in an official statement released back in February. “The Brentwood football program has experienced a great deal of success during the last few years, and it is my goal to build upon this success.”

This season, Brentwood varsity will play five road games and four home games, with its traditional bye week after the season’s sixth week. The junior varsity, meanwhile, will play eight total games, four at home and four on the road.

The Eagles will open the 2011 campaign at Crystal City on Friday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m., while the JV will kick off its season on Monday, Aug. 29 with a 6 p.m. home game against the Hornets.

The second week of the regular season brings a matchup with archrival on Friday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.

MRH was one of the best teams in the state last year, finishing with a 14-1 record with its , 34-13, in the Missouri Class 2 state championship game last Nov. 27.

The Brentwood JV will host MRH on Saturday, Sept. 3 at noon.

The Eagles’ first home game is slated for Friday, Sept. 9 when Brentwood will host Wesclin at 7 p.m. The Warriors were 5-4 in 2010, and will be led by high-profile lineman prospect Ronnie Senyard.

Other key games for the Brentwood varsity in 2011 include home games on Sept. 16 and 30, against the Missouri Military Academy and Lutheran South, respectively, and an Oct. 29 road rematch of last year’s district championship game against Principia. Brentwood , 31-0.
