Brentwood Volleyball Has Two New Coaches

They played in rival colleges in the same conference.

Volleyball has two new coaches this year.

Whitney Ralph is the varsity coach. She was the boys’ coach at Lafayette the past five years, and also coached girls club volleyball those same five years.

Sarah Young is the JV coach, and said it’s her first time having a team to coach, but said she’s coached at done summer camps all her summers when she was in college. She also said she’s been around volleyball since she was four.

Brentwood has a freshman team too.

Ralph and Young have known each other in volleyball circles for years.

They played club volleyball together throughout high school, and were rivals in the same college conference. Ralph was at Central Methodist University and Young went to Graceland University.

Speaking of rivals, Ralph is looking forward to see what playing brings out in her team.

“We’re going for the sweep,” she said of the two regular season and district game they’ll have with the Blue Devils.

The regular season games with MRH are Sept. 14 at Brentwood and Oct. 2 at Maplewood.

I was just thinking, if you happen to see something.....like the sign in front of City Hall, or theRead More sign in Schnuck's parking lot....regarding something going on in Brentwood, now you can click on the "Post" board at the top of the page, and let people know what is happening in Brentwood. We have the new format so we can now post whatever we want. Just click and post. Anyone can do it too.

I doubt this discrepancy you think exists is because the editors have more of a connection toRead More Maplewood. I imagine it is because Maplewood officials and Chamber of Commerce members send press releases to the editors regarding upcoming events and news items. If you want your local community to have more of a presence in the Patch, I suggest you contact the proper officials in Brentwood and urge them to send such notices. Self-promotion for a community is a good thing, although in the case of Brentwood Days and other iconic Brentwood events, it was my understanding that the city didn't want it publicized and preferred it to be a smaller event.
