Brentwood Wrestler is a Scholar

David Rivera took fourth at the state meet, and on Sunday was honored statewide for his academics.

junior wrestler David Rivera, weeks after at the state wrestling meet, was recognized on Sunday for his academic achievements.

Rivera was honored as one of Missouri’s Academic All-State wrestlers at the Missouri Wrestling Association Hall of Fame Banquet in Columbia, MO. 

Earlier this year, Rivera was named first-team all-district in football. He also throws shot and discus in track, competes on the debate team, and is .

It was the first time in 13 years that a Brentwood wrestler won a medal at the state meet.

“David is a great young man,” Brentwood wrestling coach Roy Hughes said in an e-mail.  “He is a hard worker, very focused, and demonstrates great character in all aspects of his life.”
