Calendars Created by MRH Students Available For Purchase

As part of their work during this past spring semester, seventh-grade students
in Scott McClintock's science class at explored renewable energy sources. Their research and experiments culminated with a collaboratively created calendar that is now available for purchase.

The students began with , including biomass, solar, and hydropower. The research included expeditions to a nearby biodiesel plant, area wind turbines, and other locations. Then, the students spent a week conducting experiments with hands-on materials and volunteers provided by Washington University.

Photographs of the students doing research, conducting site visits, and doing hands-on experiments with the help of Washington University students are included in the calendar. In addition, the students have included details about the results of their work, making the calendar a great way to learn about sustainability.

The 18-month calendar runs from July 2011 through December 2012. Copies are available for $15. Proceeds go to support MRH sustainability efforts. You can purchase a calendar at the middle school, elementary school, early childhood center, or at the MRH Central Office. In addition, calendars may soon be available at local businesses.
