Dawn Medina Becomes MRH's Newest School Board Member

In 2012, the entire Medina family was named "MRH Family of the Year."

Dawn Medina was sworn in on Thursday to serve on the Maplewood Richmond Heights Board of Education. She will fulfill the term of .

Medina is a longtime resident of Maplewood and employee of Covidien. She has been active in the school district for many years. She and her husband, Adam, currently , attending MRH High School.

In 2012, the Medina family was named “MRH Family of the Year.” Her family and much of her church family were present for the ceremony on Thursday. Medina's husband is pastor of the New Destiny Apostolic Church in Maplewood.

Board President Maria Langston said Medina has always brought "positive energy and support to our students and teachers."

Medina was one of four community members who were interested in the vacant position in February, according to a news release from the school district.

The three other candidates were Juan Arias, Wes Robb and Daniel O’Sullivan.

Each of the candidates met with the board in an open session on March 5. Medina was selected from that meeting.
