District Brackets Released for MRH, Brentwood Basketball

The district tournament brackets for the boys and girls teams are available online.

The Class 3, District 5 tournament brackets have been released for both the boys and girls basketball teams at Brentwood and Maplewood Richmond Heights.

The boys tournament will be held at Vashon High School (3035 Cass Avenue) and the girls tournament will be held at the Mathews-Dickey Boys' and Girls' Club (4245 N. Kingshighway Blvd.).

Both tournaments will run from this Friday through next Thursday.

In the boys bracket, the Brentwood Eagles' (10-12) first game is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday against Lift for Life Academy (11-12). If Brentwood wins, the next game would be scheduled for 6:45 p.m. on the following Tuesday, where the Eagles would play either Cardinal Ritter, Confluence Prep Academy Charter School or Construction Careers Charter School.

Maplewood Richmond Heights' (18-6) first game is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday against Cleveland NJROTC (4-15). A win on Saturday would pit the Blue Devils against Carnahan or Metro at 5 p.m. on the following Tuesday.

In the girls bracket, the Brentwood Eagles (12-11) will open tournament play at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday against Confluence (0-14). An Eagles win would pit them against Carnahan or Cardinal Ritter at 5 p.m. on Monday.

Maplewood Richmond Heights (13-12) will open play against St. Elizabeth Academy (3-16) at 3 p.m. on Saturday. A Blue Devils victory would advance them to a 6:45 p.m. matchup on Monday against Metro, Lift for Life Academy or Cleveland NJROTC.

I was just thinking, if you happen to see something.....like the sign in front of City Hall, or theRead More sign in Schnuck's parking lot....regarding something going on in Brentwood, now you can click on the "Post" board at the top of the page, and let people know what is happening in Brentwood. We have the new format so we can now post whatever we want. Just click and post. Anyone can do it too.

I doubt this discrepancy you think exists is because the editors have more of a connection toRead More Maplewood. I imagine it is because Maplewood officials and Chamber of Commerce members send press releases to the editors regarding upcoming events and news items. If you want your local community to have more of a presence in the Patch, I suggest you contact the proper officials in Brentwood and urge them to send such notices. Self-promotion for a community is a good thing, although in the case of Brentwood Days and other iconic Brentwood events, it was my understanding that the city didn't want it publicized and preferred it to be a smaller event.
