Faulkner said salaries trend with both the position and the years of experience.

Faulkner said in spite of his increase in income, he still drives a 2000 Honda Accord with a 107,000 miles on it.

"It's the same 2000 Accord I had eight years ago, and it's been paid off (almost) since I've had it," he said. "I hate debt and I hate everything about it. I'm not going to do it to myself and I'm not going to do it to my district if I can help it."

Also, "I do not have a Mercedes," he said.
