MRH 2011 Football Schedule Released

With fall practices under way as of Monday, and the first day of school slated for Aug. 15, the Athletics Department started its 2011-2012 sporting year by recently releasing its 2011 varsity and junior varsity football schedules.

The Blue Devils are coming off the best season in school history. MRH went 14-1, which included a trip to the Edward Jones Dome for the Missouri Class 2 state championship game, which they lost,

The Blue Devils will be looking for their second straight Mississippi Area White Conference title in 2011, after going undefeated in league play last year.

In fact, MRH is going for its fourth league title in the past five years after winning the White Division in 2010, and the Mississippi Area Blue Division in 2007 and 2008.

In 2011, the Blue Devils varsity will play a 10-game schedule, with four home games, while the junior varsity will play seven total games, with three of them at home.

Both teams will open the season with the same opponent, MICDS, but will start on different dates and play at opposite locations.

The varsity will begin play on Friday, Aug. 26, with a 7 p.m. home game against the Rams, while the JV will play at MICDS on Monday, Aug. 29 at 6 p.m.

MICDS features one of the top players in the entire state of Missouri in senior linebacker Michael Scherer, a three-star recruit who, according to the scouting site Rivals.com, is considered the 50th best outside linebacker prospect in the country.

The second week for the Blue Devils will bring a matchup against archrival . The Eagles went 6-4 last season after a 12-2 run in 2009, which included that program’s first trip to the state title game since 1987.

The MRH varsity will host Brentwood on Friday, Sept. 2 with a 7 p.m. start time, while the JV teams will play the following day at Brentwood at noon.

Other important dates for the Blue Devils in 2011 include: the Mississippi Area White league opener at Potosi on Sept. 9; the Homecoming game on Sept. 23 against Park Hills Central; and Senior Day on Oct. 21 when the Devils will take on Northwest Academy.

All three of those games are at 7 p.m.
