MRH Seniors Create a Celebration of Acts of Good Will

The Maplewood Richmond Heights Cornerstone class wants students from all over St. Louis to march downtown with them on May 5.

A handful of seniors would love to see a million students marching together in downtown St. Louis.

MRH senior Jasmine Buchanan said she and other students in the MRH Cornerstone class had the idea to bring together teenagers from all over St. Louis who have done an act of good will, then celebrate it.

The Million Minor March was hatched.

“The march is a celebration to showcase what you did and what you’re marching for,” Buchanan said.

Patrice Bryan, the class’s teacher, said the project idea came out of reading the Tipping Point, about social change and how change happens.

They’ve created a website, themillionminormarch.com, for teachers and students to register for the march, which begins at Soldiers' Memorial on May 5.

Bryan said they have verbal commitments from 300 to 400, but they'd love for folks to register on the website, so they have a definite number.

“It could be anywhere from 20 to a million,” she said. “We hope it’s closer to a million.”
