MRH Sports Update: Football Keeps Rolling

Our weekly roundup catches you up on Maplewood Richmond Heights athletics.

The Maplewood-Richmond Heights football team grabbed another fantastic win last Friday, as it ran .

Freshman running back Elijah Keely and junior wingback P.J. Grady-Liska each had two touchdowns in the win, while quarterback Kahlid Hagens threw for a score and ran for another to lead the Blue Devils to the win.

Maplewood soccer star John Barron had a big week for the Devils football team as well, kicking five extra-points and a 42-yard field goal to help seal the win over Perryville.

The Devils soccer team though, lost both its matches last week, and fell to 4-9 on the season, while Barron remained one of the area leaders in scoring with 19 goals this season.

Teammate Sam Martin has also been outstanding this year, with 13 goals and eight assists.

And finally for MRH this week, the girls volleyball team went 4-2 at the Crossroads Tournament, which included impressive wins over 14-4 Metro Academy on Friday, and 12-7 Brentwood on Saturday.

Mariah Russell was the star for the Devils over the weekend in those two wins, totaling 10 kills apiece in both matches.

MRH has four matches scheduled for this week: they’ll play on the road at St. Elizabeth’s on Monday; at Brentwood on Tuesday; at home against Crossroads on Thursday; and at home against Bayless on Friday.

All four matches are slated for 5 p.m. starts.
