MRH Superintendent Karen Hall Wins Recognition from State Thespian Group

Hall's support of The Laramie Project was noted.

Maplewood Richmond Heights School District announced on its website that Superintendent Karen Hall has received the 2012-2013 Outstanding Administrator Award from the Missouri State Thespians Association

The Outstanding Administrator Award is given to a school administrator or team of administrators for their dedication and efforts to support educational theatre in their building, district and community.  Superintendent Hall was nominated by MRH teachers Holly Potthoff and Joe Hosea, and students who performed in the high school’s play, The Laramie Project.

"Karen Hall has been an adamant supporter from the beginning," MRH student Cassidy Snyder wrote in the nomination.

"Her support was what made the show possible...when protesters from Westboro Baptist Church arrived, she was on the front steps, defending us through a megaphone," Snyder wrote. "Karen Hall has tough shoes to fill in the wake of the visionary superintendent Dr. Linda Henke, but she has done an incredible job of carrying on Dr. Henke's legacy and initiating her own innovations. Her support has led to a tremendous learning opportunity for myself and the cast of The Laramie Project, and I am confident that she will continue to provide astounding leadership in the endeavors of the district."

Hall accepted the award at the association’s annual conference held in St. Louis on Jan. 10.
