MRH Volleyball Overtakes Brentwood in Two

It was MRH's first come-from-behind win of the year.

volleyball brought its crowd and best game to on Friday, winning in two come-from-behind games.

In the first game, the Blue Devils jumped to a 7-1 lead, then let the Eagles even it at 12. MRH was behind 20-16 before the 25-22 win in game one.

It was Brentwood that had a 7-1 lead in game two. The score was 21-17 for the Eagles before MRH began its comeback. The game was tied at 23 and 24 before MRH won game two 26-24.

“I’m very proud of my girls,” said head coach Cheryl Carmon. “It’s actually the first time we’ve come from behind to win.

“Everybody fought hard on both sides, and we just got lucky and came out on top,” Carmon said.

The match was Brentwood coach Whitney Ralph’s first Brentwood-MRH game.

She said the fan support from both sides made the match a little more intense. Brentwood football had a Saturday game, so most of the team filled a section of the bleachers.

“I think we got a little tense at the end, let our emotions play into it, instead of focusing on finishing the game,” Whitney said. “Maplewood came out to play today.”

“We’ll get them next time, at their house," she said. “So we’ll see how that goes.”
