School District reports that the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) has awarded MRH seniors John Barron and Amber Sinclair each an Award of Excellence for exemplary display of sportsmanship, ethics and integrity.
Barron and Sinclair were chosen by MRH coaches; Malcolm Hill, athletic director; and administrators.
"Amber was given this award because of her excellent leadership skills," Hill said. "She's an outstanding leader in the classroom and on the volleyball court. She was a volleyball captain, and she carries a high GPA - above 3.5, and she's one of the main reasons our volleyball team won a district championship this year.
"She's the definition of student-athlete," Hill said.
Sinclair scored 394 points in 71 games played in the 2011 season. Ninty-seven of those points were kills. Ninty-two percent of her serves were good, and 85 of those were aces.
