Proposed Tax Increase in Brentwood Schools Draws Financial Support from Community
A committee named Brentwood Citizens for Excellence formed in February to support Proposition K. The proposition would raise property taxes for Brentwood homeowners to increase school district revenues.
A campaign committee supporting Proposition K has raised more than $4,000 over the past two months.
That's according to campaign finance reports filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission last week and in February. Documents show that the commitee, which is named Brentwood Citizens for Excellence, raised $4,321 in donations.
The committee, which lists Mark Womer and Michael Slatin as treasurers, formed in early February.

Proposition K would increase the school district operating tax levy ceiling by 75 cents. That's about $83 for a $100,000 home, notes a previous Patch report.
Residents familiar with the names and faces in the Brentwood School District will recognize many of the contributors to the commitee. Supporters include school board members, administrators and teachers.

Of the thousands raised, the committee spent about $1,801 on office supplies, yard signs, fliers and postcards.
