Rivalry Rematch: MRH, Brentwood Meet in Playoffs on Monday

The Eagles look to rebound from a crushing loss to the Devils earlier this season.

The rival and football teams will meet on Monday night for the second time this season. This time, the season is on the line.

The Eagles (7-3) are scheduled to host the Blue Devils (9-2) for a 7 p.m. kickoff in a Class 2 state sectional game. The winning team will advance to the state quarterfinals while the losing team's season ends.

The game will also be streamed live online by PrepCasts.

When the , MRH was relentless in its 55-0 shutout of Brentwood. The Eagles mustered little offense as the Blue Devils cruised to an easy win.

Since that loss in the second week, the Eagles have run off a 6-1 record. They've improved on both sides of the ball, and head coach Keith Herring said his team has been ready for a rematch with the Devils.

"We talked about wanting to see Maplewood again," Herring said. "We are a different team. They're still a good team, but I think we've improved a lot."

The Devils have been just as dominant this season, commanding an 8-1 record since they hosted the Eagles in September.

The winner will face the winner of a game between Caruthersville (10-1) and Crystal City (8-3), also scheduled for Monday night. The next game is scheduled for Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
