Sports Update: Brentwood Volleyball Keeps Winning

This weekly roundup includes updates from each Brentwood sports team.

The Brentwood girls softball team lost in the first round of the district playoffs to Valley Park, and finished its season with a 6-8 record.

The Eagles were led this year by seniors Alaina Youngstrom and Kate Nikodym, junior Haley Holtgrieve, and sophomores Allison Durham and Shawn Durham.

The Brentwood boys soccer team had a rough week too.

They lost three matches by a combined score of 17-1 to McCluer, Maplewood, and St. Pius X.

With a record of 2-12, the Eagles will play three games this week, at home against Crossroads Prep on Tuesday, at Metro High on Wednesday, and at home against Clayton on Thursday.

The Brentwood girls volleyball team had a good week.

The Eagles won both their matches last week, avenging a loss to rival Maplewood with a straight set win on Tuesday, and by walloping Hancock in straight sets on Friday.

This week, Brentwood will be awfully busy with four matches scheduled, including a Monday matchup against first place Crossroads, and yet another showdown with Maplewood on Thursday.

And finally, district football play might begin for the rest of the state this weekend, but it won’t for Brentwood, which has no game this week, but will return to action on Friday, October 21, with a home game against Grandview High.

Last week, Brentwood at North Callaway, but could only get as close as 26-21, in the Eagles’ final tuneup before the playoffs begin.

Jake Zivic, Rekardo Owens and Austin Koster scored Brentwood’s touchdowns on offense and special teams, while junior David Rivera led the defense with 13 total tackles.
