4 MRH Football, Basketball Athletes Sign For Next Level

Four Maplewood Richmond Heights athletes signed to play at the college level on Wednesday.

Four Maplewood Richmond Heights athletes signed letters of intent on Wednesday to play their sport in college.

Alvin Garvin and John Dudley will play football at College of DuPage, and Aaron Spudich and Lawrence Houge are going to Lincoln University. Spudich will play basketball and Houge will play football.

All said they are excited and thankful for the opportunity.

"At the end of the year, the coach always says not everybody has the chance to play at the next level, and we got the chance," Spudich said. "It’s a great feeling to actually go. It’s unbelievable."

"I want to thank all the people who supported me to get here," Garvin said. "And I want to thank Mr. Grawer for everything. He really went the extra mile for me. I have to pay him back some kind of way in the future."

"I’m excited to play at the next level because most people don’t get the chance," Houge said. "I get to go with one of my friends, and I the better competition will make me a better person and a player."

"I had a great opportunity," Dudley said. "I played for a lot of good teams, and I had a great experience here. It was fun."
