Brentwood, MRH Wrestling Seasons Conclude in Columbia
Brentwood's seven wrestlers and MRH's three grapplers each were eliminated before the third day at the State Wrestling Championships at Mizzou Arena.
Though Brentwood wrestling brought seven wrestlers, the Eagles will be spectators on the final day of the Missouri State Wrestling Championships at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Mo.
But there some victories along the way for Brentwood and coach Roy Hughes. At 112 pounds, sophomore Rashaad Jordan advanced past day one with a 12-10 decision over Brian Noble (Stanberry). Jordan’s season ended on Friday with a loss to Adrian’s Brandt McMillan in a fall at 2:32. He finishes at 21-11 for this season.
Senior Elie Moore, at 140 pounds, ended his season at 31-17. After surviving past Thursday with a 7-6 win over Lathrop’s Trent Scobee, Moore lost in his first match on Friday, 13-6, to Kevin Adam (Blair Oaks).
Hughes had a third Eagles grappler advance to day two. At 145 pounds, senior Ryan Jones beat David Casey (Polo) in a fall at 2:52 in his second match on Thursday. Jones’ season ended at 27-15 following his loss to Aaron Strope from Fatima, a 15-0 technical fall.
Maplewood Richmond Heights advanced all three of its wrestlers past day one, but each had their season conclude on Friday. At 125 pounds, sophomore Montel Maggitt beat Jesse Oldham (Stanberry), 11-6, before losing to Alex Adam of Blair Oaks in a fall at 2:14. Maggitt finished this season at 39-6.
Senior Eduardo Verdia dropped both of his 160-pound matches on Friday, but still ended 38-10. At 189 pounds, sophomore LaVon Clark lost a 12-4 major decision to Diamond’s Chris Pittman on Friday to finish 14-14.
