Football Eagles Top the Blue Devils by a Wide Margin

Maplewood Richmond Heights football won the five previous games with Brentwood, according the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, but the Eagles turned the tables Friday night in Maplewood.

Brentwood took advantage of two MRH fumbles to jump to 14-0 lead in the first quarter. The final was 42-22. Brentwood’s season now stands at 2-0, while the Blue Devils sit at 0-2.

The win was sweet for Eagles senior, Jake Zivic.

Zivic said he remembers almost every play from last year's losses to the Blue Devils. "This is what we work so hard for," Zivic told the Post-Dispatch.

Maplewood junior running back Elijah Keely scored on a 68-yard touchdown run in fourth quarter for the final touchdown of the night.

Maplewood coach JC Kime said the team made a lot of mistakes at the wrong times. 

"We're a young team, and we've got some things to learn," he said.

Next week Brentwood plays Clopton (0-2) in Brentwood, and MRH goes on the road to Ste. Genevieve (1-1).
