MRH Hall of Fame to Include Historic Photos, Trophies

The renovations of the past 10 years have scattered trophies around the district.

In the next few months, Maplewood Richmond Heights alumni and current students should be able to see, in one display, the long history of MRH athletics.

There has been an effort in the past six months to bring together and display the vast collection of team photographs and trophies from MRH’s past into one hall of fame.

Considering the building renovations of the past 10 years, it hasn’t been easy.

“A lot of the pieces had to be put in storage or got moved,” MRH Director of Communications Brian Adkisson said. “Things got pushed here and pushed there around the district.”

Adkisson said the Building and Grounds Department has been cataloging the trophies. The hall of fame is the collection of photographs. The display will include both.

An exhibit designer has looked at possible spaces in the school where the trophies and photographs could be displayed together. One possibility is the lobby off the commons where there is currently a trophy case.

Adkisson said staff members and students are working on the project.

“It sounds like an easy project, but it’s actually a lot of moving pieces,” Adkisson said.

“It’s a lot of stuff that happens in the back before something can be put on display, especially when you have the old photos,” he said. “We want to make sure we take this moment to make sure we’re doing whatever we can to make sure we preserve those items for the future.”
