MRH Head Football Coach Out, Recuperates From Surgery as Season Starts

MRH plays MICDS at home and Brentwood plays at Crystal City for the season's first games.

Maplewood Richmond Heights head football coach J.C. Kime is still recuperating from kidney stone surgery, and will not take the field for the Blue Devils’ first game Friday against MICDS, according to the school.

Assistant Coaches Desmond Riechold, Kacy Day, Willie Ball, Joe Spinks and MRH Athletic Director Rich Nixon will lead the team.

Superintendent Karen Hall said Kime is in regular contact with his coaches, and is still leading to team.

“He’s been a dedicated member of our MRH family for many years and I know he can’t wait to get back in the classroom and on the field with our students,” she said.

The 2013 football team is in a rebuilding mode. The 2012 season ended with a record of 10-3 after the Blue Devils’ lost to longtime rival, Caruthersville, in the Class 2 state quarterfinal.
