Brentwood Foundation Awards $11,000 to Students and Staff

Programs include field trips, art projects and summer camps.

The Brentwood Foundation for Education Enrichment awarded more than $11,000 to staff and students in Brentwood schools last week.

The foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides grants for educational programs in the Brentwood School District. The organization received applications seeking roughly $20,000 in total funding this year. Foundation board members selected 13 programs for $11,294 in funding.

  • Brie LeGrand, teacher at McGrath and Mark Twain — $658 to build the elementary Spanish program
  • Todd McDonald, high school teacher — $715 for chemistry field trips to Weldon Spring and University of Missouri, St. Louis
  • Keith Moyer, instrumental music teacher — $980 for instrumental restoration
  • J. Lee, S. Lanfersieck, S. Wacker, K. Staggs, B. Wildgrubbe, J. Davis, Mark Twain teachers — $875 for digital learning
  • Jeanne Buschart, McGrath teacher — $600 for ceramic wheel throwing project
  • Kyle Henderson, Early Childhood Center teacher — $773 for indoor-outdoor garden connections
  • Ed Wright, high school teacher — $1,000 for freshman field trip to Lincoln Museum
  • K. Sayre, A. Kernen, B. Tait-Taylor, spanish teachers — $790 for Hispanic flamenco ballet field trip
  • Julie Sperry, Eileen Roberts, Anne Bosche, middle school personnel — $1,000 for journey to excellence book study
  • Ivy Hutchison, career counselor — $600 for 12th grade college visit
  • Robyn Haug, high school teacher — $913 for the debate team's trip to Washington, D.C.
  • Sean Koster, Amy Lee, Hannah Linneman, high school students — $300 each ($900 total) for Student Council Leadership Camp (MASC)
  • Lucy Sappington, Steven Sandler, Chris Reichert, Dallas Neely, Paige Anderson, high school students — $298 each ($1,490) for NCFL Grand National Tournament

The foundation has awarded more than $68,000 in grants since its inception in 2000. Its largest fundraiser, the Brentwood Race to the Square 5K, will take place on September 17.
