Got Unneeded Personal Care Products for a Gift? Consider Donating!

You can donate soap or toothpaste, as well as food or clothing.

We all have the best intentions when we give a gift, but it doesn't always work out. Maybe you were on the receiving end of multiple bottles of personal care products you really don't think you need. Did you know they can be donated?

If after honest self-assessment you still want to unload that deodorant, here are some places in St. Louis that accept donations. Most also accept clothing or food, so put it all in one box and give them a call, or take a drive.

  • St. Patrick Center is in downtown St. Louis, and helps more than 9,000 homeless persons annually. Deodorant, feminine hygiene products, lotion, men's razors, sunscreen, talcum powder, and toothpaste and toothbrushes are on their wish list.
  • Salvation Army is well known for its Red Kettle and the work it does. Some locations accept personal care products. Find the location nearest to you.
  • Operation Food Search is in University City, and feeds approximately 150,000 people every month. It also accepts personal care products.
  • The Food Bank for Central and Eastern Missouri is looking for toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, deodorant and paper towels. It supports shelters for low income children and senior citizens, rehabilitation centers, and the homeless. Its headquarters is in Columbia, MO.
  • If you can wait until April, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri collect personal care products in their April Showers campaign, which might be a good idea, because they'll pick it up for you.
