Boys Hope Girls Hope in Brentwood, New Business in Maplewood: Decisions on Monday

Monday night there are meetings in Brentwood and Maplewood. Brentwood BOA considers Boys Hope Girls Hope.

Here’s what’s up this week in Maplewood and Brentwood. Here are five things about the coming week. Monday is the big day.

  1. Monday at 7 p.m. the Brentwood Board of Aldermen will meet at City Hall to vote on Boys Hope Girls Hope (BHGH) building dormitories for up to 20 school-age boys and girls, and an office on Madge Avenue. Two votes will be taken regarding BHGH: one will be to rezone the property and the second will allow the development. The board will also consider a pilot program for food trucks.
  2. Monday in Maplewood at 7 p.m. the Plan and Zoning Commission will consider a request for a permit for “Pedler’s Daughters” to operate at 3104 Sutton Boulevard. That’s the previous location of “Roots” before it moved to 7328 Manchester Avenue.
  3. Monday is Learn-to-skate Monday at the Brentwood Rec Center. From Brentwood’s website: “Every level skater will find a class to fit your needs in your popular Learn to Skate Sessions Monday evenings. Beginners to advanced skaters learn new skills in groups of 8 to 12, using USFS teaching method. Classes last 30 minutes weekly and are designed to help skaters move toward excellence.”
  4. One more on Monday, Maplewood Richmond Heights student Isaiah Aldrich said on Maplewood-Brentwood Patch Facebook that MRH soccer try-outs are at 6 p.m. at Ryan Hummert Park.
  5. Any day of the week, if you want to see The Book House move to Maplewood ASAP, donate to the campaign on Indiegogo. They’ve raised $260 in four days, with 36 days to go to reach their goal of $25,000. The donations will go to pay for contractors to bring the space up to code.
