This Week: Back to School, Learn About Nazi Resistance, Growing a Business

Check here each Monday for the events in the week ahead.

It's back to school week. Plus anyone can learn about the Nazi resistance in Europe or how small food vendors have grown their businesses through farmers markets. Also, live music at Stone Spiral on Thursday (and most nights of the week.)

  1. Tuesday—Brentwood and Maplewood Richmond Heights students go back to school.
  2. Wednesday, 8 p.m. at Schlafly Bottleworks—SLOWednesday will look at farmers markets as business incubators for local food entrepreneurs. Learn how vendors iScream Cakes, the ReTrailer and Whisk Bakeshop grew their businesses at Schlafly Farmers Market and other local markets.
  3. Thursday, 6:30 p.m. Maplewood Public Library—Learn about the resistance to the resistance to the Nazi regime during World War II. Individuals and groups fought for their freedom throughout Europe. Daniel Reich, Curator and Director of Education at the St. Louis Holocaust Museum and Learning Center will speak.
  4. Thursday, 7 p.m. Stone Spiral—Danbury Street features a variety of jazz styles including Swing, Latin, Ballads, and Blues. The Stone Spiral offers a delicious menu and variety of drinks including wine and beer. No cover! 
  5. Through the week until Thursday—Register for one-on-one instruction on all of band and orchestra instruments at three Community Music School of Webster University St. Louis locations. For registration days, times and locations visit: www.webster.edu/cms or call 314-968-5939.
