Week Ahead: Football, Volleyball Seasons Begin Friday, Blue Devils R&B Plays Ryan Hummert Park

High school sports begins this week. Go out and cheer for your team! Brentwood wants to hear from its residents in a meeting, too.

1. The Maplewood Community Betterment Foundation finishes its concert series with The Blue Devils Rhythm and Blues Band. The show is at Ryan Hummert Memorial Park from 6-8 p.m. Donate two or more food items and receive a snow cone from Maplewood United Methodist Church.
2. Brentwood’s first football game of the season is Friday at Crystal City at 7 p.m.  The Eagles’ first volleyball is Friday at McCluer South-Berkeley at 5:15 p.m.
3. Maplewood Richmond Heights’ first football game is Friday at home against MICDS at 7 p.m. MRH’s volleyball season starts Friday at McCluer North at 6:15 p.m.
4. Brentwood Ways and Means Committee wants to hear residents’ priorities, ideas and comments for the city as the committee begins to prepare the 2014 budget. It's Thursday at City Hall at 4:30 p.m. 
5. Jammin’ at the Zoo - The Young Zoo Friends host a summer party lakeside in the center of the Zoo. General admission is $10/general public and free for Zoo Friends members.
