Parents ruin sports..
sportsnut July 14, 2014 at 06:39 am
Alan I agree. Parents coach to get their kids and kids friends a leg up. Kids are choosen too basedRead More on parents and kids being friends. Take AAU and All-Stars and positions in each sport. Parents coach because they want their kid in prime positions, kids are friends with certain kids or because a family does not like someone but the kid has talent not playing. You need "out of area" coaches to come and determine if a kid is "that good" to be at the next level not "locals" whom coach because that is the only way the kid will get playing time.

sportsnut: Seems like a perfect opportunity for you to get involved in coaching... If nothingRead More else, becoming a coach will give you a voice in the league to lobby for equal playing time for all kids, and rotation of positions--particularly at the lower levels.

Doug, I'm a big fan of Patch and the coverage you provide, but your headline is a bit harsh, andRead More leaves the reader to believe the coach was fired and replaced for some reason. Maybe Mr. Nixon he didn't want to renew his "extra duty" contract since he is already an athletic director? The facts presented in the article simply don't warrant that type of headline. A better headline would have been "JC Kime Takes Over as MRH Head Football Coach". Also...congrats and good luck coach Kime!

C'mon Josh... There is no crying in football!! If a school administrator and/or HS football coachRead More doesn't have thick enough skin to brush off something that is "a little harsh", then he's probably in the wrong job.

I am very proud of my young men, they have battled through adversity and have overcame. Lawrence youRead More are the man, you will be missed as a team leader and competitor.
