New Toddler Playground Opens at Memorial Park

Brentwood added the toddler playground in Memorial Park after receiving a grant worth $82,055.

A new toddler playground structure at Memorial Park will be safer and more accessible, said Michele Frankowski, the director of the Parks and Recreation Department. The playground features a rubber surface, called "poured in place surfacing," that's safer than wood chips or asphalt for children. It's also more wheelchair accessible, according to a representative from NuToys, the company that was contracted to add the new playground. "The fact that this is ADA (American's with Disabilities Act) approved was at the top of the list when deciding how to replace this playground," spokeswoman Laura Schellenber said.
