Parents Start Fine Arts Programs at MRH Elementary

Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary School hosts after-school choir and theater groups.

While many schools are being forced to cut non-essentials like fine arts and extracurricular activities, the Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary School was recently able to launch two new after-school programs. A new choir and theater group, the brainchild of concerned parents like Brendan and Kristin Tanner and Stacey McMackin, was organized to give students the opportunity to develop their skills and gain a deeper appreciation for the arts. The Tanners, both musicians, wanted to provide all children in the district the opportunity to pursue their interests regardless of their economic background.
