Do you observe Ash Wednesday? How do you participate?
I grew up as a Baptist in Baptist-dominated southern Illinois, so we didn't see very many folks who observed Ash Wednesday. When I moved to Columbia, MO, for college, I remember seeing several people on campus with ashy crosses marked on their foreheads and wondering the significance. It took a quick schooling from my now-best friend James to explain the ceremony and its significance to multiple sections of Christian faiths. Do you observe Ash Wednesday? Do you proudly wear the ashy cross through the day? I'd love to hear how you and your family observe the day. What We're Working On What else should we be working on?
