Juvenile Charged as Adult in Hammer Beating, Robbery

Maplewood Police said three individuals took part in the Dec. 19 robbery of a cell phone store employee.

A juvenile has been certified to stand trial as an adult in a December robbery in which a Wireless Connect store employee was beaten with a hammer. Sara Mahelona, 16, of the 7100 block of Lyndover Place in Maplewood, was charged Friday with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and felonious restraint. Mahelona was 15 at the time of the robbery. Two other people, Arvell Pruitt and Teresa Moss, were charged in the case previously. (A photo of Mahelona was not available.) Man Knocks Over Gas Station Attendant While Driving Off Without Paying, Police Say

The Phillips-66 U-Gas station worker realized the man was leaving without paying for gas and tried to open the driver's door, Maplewood police said.

A man attempting to drive off without paying for gasoline ran over a gas station attendant at a Phillips 66 – U Gas station in Maplewood, knocking her to the ground, according to Maplewood Police. The attendant was not seriously injured. Derenta Street, 22, of the 1000 block of Hornsby Avenue in the Baden Neighborhood, was charged Thursday with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault. Maplewood Police said that Street filled his tank on June 28 at the gas station at 3033 South Hanley Road. However, he did not pay for the gasoline and started to drive off, police said. Couple Uses Hammer to Beat Man and Steal Three Cell Phones, Police Say

Maplewood Police said the Wireless Connect store employee's eye was swollen shut and he had numerous injuries from the assault.

A man and a woman attacked an employee as he was closing the Wireless Connect store at 7207 Manchester in Maplewood Dec. 19. The man told Maplewood Police the couple hit him in the face several times with a hammer and hit and kicked him. They also took three cell phones that the employee was carrying in a bag. Teresa M. Moss, 18, of the 2200 block of Yale Avenue in Maplewood, and Arvell Pruitt, 19, of the 1600 block of Glenechort Drive in Hillsdale, were charged Sunday with first-degree assault and first-degree robbery. Maplewood Police said the man had numerous injuries, and his eye was swollen shut. Maplewood Police arrested Moss, who admitted hitting the employee with a hammer and kicking him. Hockey Player Shattered Man's Jaw with Stick in Brentwood Game, Police Say

The Chesterfield man was charged with assault after police said he swung his stick and hit the other player in the face, breaking his jaw in multiple places.

An ice hockey player faces a criminal charge for hitting another player in the face with his hockey stick, shattering the man’s jaw Oct. 14 during a recreational game at the Brentwood Recreation Complex. Kevin Stephens, 27, of the 15600 block of Parasol Drive in Chesterfield, was charged Thursday with second-degree assault. Brentwood Police said Stephens swung his stick at the other player during a no-contact league hockey game. The incident happened outside of play, according to the police report. The man’s jaw was broken in multiple places, and he now has 17 permanent screws in his jaw as a result of the assault, police said. Brentwood Man Accused of Hitting Elderly Woman

The man was charged with elder abuse on Friday.

A Brentwood man struck a 73-year-old woman in the head on Sept. 12, according to a Brentwood Police report. Jeffrey B. Soebbing, 49, of the 2600 block of Porter Avenue, was charged Friday in St. Louis County Circuit Court with third-degree elder abuse. Maplewood Man Charged With Assault in DWI Crash

Two passengers were injured in the July 9 incident. Maplewood Police said the driver's blood-alcohol content was 0.164 percent.

A Maplewood man faces criminal charges after police said a crash that injured passengers in his car occurred because he was driving under the influence of alcohol. Adam Wimberley, 38, of the 7300 block of Myrtle Avenue in Maplewood, was charged with second-degree assault, operating a vehicle while intoxicated resulting in injury. Maplewood Police said Wimberley was driving July 9 in the 3400 block of Greenwood Boulevard and was going too fast for the road conditions and had to slam on the brakes for a stop sign. Police said his pickup truck skidded through the stop sign, struck an embankment and was stopped by railroad tracks. Both front-seat passengers were injured. One man had a facial fracture, a vertebra fracture and cuts to his face. …

2011 Brentwood Grad Charged with 1st Degree Assault at Jimmy John's

Police say William Hampel drove over one person's foot, while a second had to jump to escape injury.

A Brentwood man was charged with hitting one restaurant employee with his car and trying to hit another person. William P. Hampel, 19, of the 2600 block of Louis Avenue in Brentwood, was charged Thursday with first-degree assault, attempted first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action. Hampel is a 2011 graduate of Brentwood High School. Brentwood police said Hampel cursed at and threatened employees at Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches, 1230 Strassner Ave., at about midnight on July 2. He then retrieved a garbage bag from outside and began throwing trash inside the restaurant, police stated in a report. Females Allegedly Assault Boyfriend, Steal Outdoor Furniture, Shoplift

March 13 A 26-year-old female and a 20-year-old female were arrested for allegedly shoplifting medicine and clothing from a Maplewood Commons business. A 26-year-old-male and a 20-year-old female were arrested for allegedly stealing a neighbor’s outside (specifically 2 chairs) furniture in the 7400 block of Lohmeyer Avenue.  March 14 A 23-year-old female was arrested for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend in the 7300 block of Maple Avenue. The male victim sustained several minor injuries to his facial area as a result of the assault.
