Moore Leads Brentwood Over Barat Academy

Moore's three touchdowns powers Brentwood to a 34-8 victory on Friday night.

With fresh legs and healed bodies following a bye week, Brentwood wasted little time taking full command against outmanned Barat Academy on Friday night. The Eagles scored three times—their first touchdown at the 70-second mark—in the game's opening 7:49 to quickly break open the game. Senior Elie Moore led the offense to a convincing 34-8 victory over winless Barat Academy on middle school night. "It was good to see us start off so fast and keep that momentum the entire first half," Brentwood head coach Scott Surgener said. "Against a team like Barat Academy, which is in the beginning stages of building a program, we have to be able to take control of the ball game early." Brentwood Middle Holds Chili Cook-off Tonight

The event raises money for the school's homerooms.

The Brentwood Middle School is holding its Chili Cook-off tonight from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. The cook-off will feature 20 different chili recipes, including white chicken chili and Hot New Mexico chili. Pay $2 for a bowl or $6 for a sample of all 20. Community members and local businesses helped prepare the different recipes, Assistant Principal Eileen Roberts said. The school will sell hot dogs too. Themed baskets are available in a silent auction, as well. Homeroom students prepared the baskets to raise money for projects, parties and charities. Some basket themes include "barbecue" and "chocolate lover." Roberts encourages the community to grab a bowl of chili before attending tonight's high school football game against Barat…
