MRH Basketball Players Bring Food to Needy Families
Senior basketball player Jake Hensel said giving back to the community is "character building" for him and his teammates.
Young men from the Maplewood Richmond Heights High School basketball team spent their weekend gathering food and donating it to families at the Salvation Army. “We wanted them to know that we’re not just about basketball,” senior Jake Hensel said. “We can help people.” Hensel said that when high school basketball is over, “that’s when real life begins,” and if you don’t know how to give back to those in need, then “you won’t get nowhere.” Hensel said he felt donating the food was character-building for himself and his teammates. Next, Hensel said he plans to sit down with his mother and figure out what he’s looking for in an out-of-state college after he graduates. Head coach Corey Frazier organized the event.
