Schlafly co-founder and CEO Dan Kopman answered questions online last month in a live chat with STLtoday.com readers. He talked about the brewery's plans for expansion, including finding 40-50 acres to build on and opening a brew-pub in Chicago. The art show at the Schlafly Bottleworks has run the same weekend at the St. Louis Art Fair since 2004.
An art fair featuring St. Louis artists will run this weekend, the same weekend as the St. Louis Art Fair, in Clayton. Schlafly Art Outside, billed as an alternative art fair, has featured local art since 2004 at the Schlafly Bottleworks. From the Bottleworks website, Schlafly Art Outside is: An alternative juried and invitational art fair in St. Louis, dedicated to showcasing local art in an approachable venue and manner. Art Outside is not an ordinary fair, but one that features quality and affordable art, music, and plenty of tasty food and drink from Schlafly Beer. On Wednesday, April 4 from 4-7 p.m., the Schlafly Farmers Market opens for the start of the 2012 farmers market season. The Schlafly Farmers Market, located in the parking lot of the Schlafly Bottleworks, continues its tradition of being one of the earliest producer-only farmers markets in the St. Louis region. The 2012 season marks the market’s ninth season at the Bottleworks and the market –previously the Maplewood Farmers Market – is being re-branded as the Schlafly Farmers Market.
