The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 3 basketball sectional championship tonight features Maplewood Richmond Heights against St. Louis City's College Prep at Madison. The Maplewood Richmond Heights (23-5) vs. Madison Prep (26-2) sectional game tips off at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Lindenwood University. Maplewood Richmond Heights dominated Lift For Life Academy in the first round of the Class 3, District 5 Tournament on Monday night, winning 84-30 in front of the Blue Devils' home crowd. Senior Tony King fueled the MRH offensive charge, but it was the Blue Devils' stingy defense that controlled the game. A young Lift For Life Academy team—comprised only of freshmen and sophomores—continually turned the ball over against MRH's full-court press. The frustration was obvious, and the amount of traveling calls on the youthful Hawks in the first half was astounding. "We executed defensively," coach Corey Frazier said. Brentwood had no answer for Carnahan’s Steven Baynham on Monday night. Baynham’s 28 points led the Cougars over the Eagles, 65-51, in the Class 3, District 5 Tournament on Monday night at Maplewood Richmond Heights High School. Brentwood’s season ends with a 9-15 record. Senior center Amadou Cisse could only watch from the Eagles bench as the 6-foot-2 Carnahan forward dominated the paint throughout the game. Cisse was out with a hip injury. Brentwood trailed by 10 or more points for most of the game, but clawed back late in the fourth quarter. A string of Carnahan fouls and turnovers brought the Eagles within three points at the 2:15 mark, as Brentwood desperately did everything it could to salvage a season that was rapidly slipping away. …
