MRH, Brentwood Volleyball Join Forces Against Breast Cancer

The teams posed for a group photo before their game on Tuesday.

The Brentwood and Maplewood Richmond Heights volleyball teams came together for one big group photo before their recent game at MRH. They made silly faces, but MRH senior, Mariah Medina, said it’s important. “I wanted to take a picture with them because we’re coming together for breast cancer,” she said. “Even though we’re rival teams, it’s awesome to have a picture together and really show support for breast cancer.” Spectators were charged to enter the game, with proceeds going to breast cancer research. See more photos of both teams at Maplewood-Brentwood Patch Facebook. Brentwood senior, Nora Durham, said they like to play up the rivalry, but they can get together together for a good cause. “It’s a fun time,” she said. “I’m excited to …

Brentwood Volleyball Wins 2nd Match of Season

The Eagles beat Jennings in two games at home.

Brentwood volleyball played its home opener on Wednesday, defeating Jennings 25-15, 25-15. Coach Whitney Ralph said it was a good win, especially after a tough loss to Affton on Tuesday. She said they lost in three games. See more game photos at Maplewood-Brentwood Patch Facebook. (Like it!) "We were a lot better at communicating with each other, both in cheering, as well as calling balls," she said. "We’re also missing some girls, so we had some girls in new positions today, so that was interesting, but they handled it really well." The Eagles play next week at Bayless on Tuesday, at Clayton on Wednesday, then on Friday they host MRH for the first of two Brentwood-Maplewood Richmond Heights regular-season matches.
