Brentwood Bridge Replacement to Alleviate Flooding
Litzsinger Bridge will be closed until mid-January.
During the aftermath of Hurricane Ike in 2008, C & A Printing & Graphics lost entire file cabinets and irreplaceable art work in the flood that swallowed the area of Litzsinger Road and Rosalie Avenue, costing the company thousands of dollars. The flood was caused partially by the design of Litzsinger Bridge, where debris collected in the bridge's center support structure until it acted as a dam to the creek below. Brentwood city officials are betting that a new bridge design will prevent future flooding problems. The new bridge allows debris and water to continue flowing downstream because it doesn't require center structure support, Assistant City Administrator Ellen Dailey-Rottjakob said.
