Police: Man Arrested After Trying to Steal Las Palmas Safe

Maplewood police said a man tried to steal the safe, containing $1,500 in cash, from Las Palmas at about 3 a.m. on July 15.

A Maplewood restaurant owner caught a man carrying his safe out of his business at 3:07 a.m. on July 15, fought with him and recovered the safe. The safe contained about $1,500, according to a Maplewood police report. Edgar Solis-Antunez, 22, of the 8800 block of Balson Avenue in St. Louis, was charged Monday in St. Louis County Circuit Court with first-degree burglary and stealing. Maplewood police said Solis-Antunez entered Las Palmas restaurant at 7356 Manchester Road and stole the safe, which contained cash. Victim Tells Police Robbery Suspect Pointed Gun at Him, Pulled Trigger

The gun did not fire; three of four suspects in the Sunday morning robbery were charged Monday.

Three of four suspects were charged Monday with robbing a man at gunpoint in a Brentwood home. Charged with first-degree burglary, three counts of armed criminal action, and two counts of first-degree robbery were: Brentwood Police said four men entered a home in the 9400 block of Parkside Drive in Brentwood at about 8:40 a.m. Sunday. Police said Rush had a handgun. A victim told police that Rush pointed the handgun at him and pulled the trigger, and the victim heard a click. The gun did not fire. Police said the four men took the man’s wallet with $700 cash and credit cards, a cell phone and a laptop computer. The four men then left and were pursued by police. Police: Maplewood Woman Charged in Motel Room Break-in Robbery

Police say Janet Miraglia and another suspect kicked in a motel room door and robbed a couple at gunpoint, taking their car and $10,000.

A Maplewood woman was charged with breaking into a motel room in Bel-Ridge and helping rob a couple staying in the room. Janet Miraglia, 28, of the 3600 block of Manhattan in Maplewood, was charged Thursday with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of armed criminal action and first-degree burglary. Bel-Ridge police said a man Miraglia was with kicked open a door at the Springdale Motel just off Natural Bridge Road near Interstate 170. As Miraglia took the woman’s purse and cell phone, the man threatened to shoot one of the victims if they did not turn over the keys to their 2004 Ford Mustang, police said. Maplewood Man Hit Wife, Daughter with Hammer, Police Say

Estranged husband violated order of protection by breaking into the home, according to court documents.

A man was charged May 31 with breaking into his former Maplewood home and hitting his wife and daughter with a hammer. Carlos Crues, 55, faces second-degree assault, third-degree domestic assault, first-degree burglary, violating a protection order and resisting arrest charges. Maplewood Police said in a report that Crues broke into the home in the 2400 block of Florent Ave. about 4:45 a.m. May 31. His wife awoke and found him going through her purse, and he came at her with a hammer, the report states. During the assault, he struck his 16-year-old daughter with the hammer, injuring her face and mouth, according to the report. Police said also hit his wife in the elbow with the hammer and punched her. Crues has been banned from entering …

Maplewood Man Charged in Two North County Burglaries

The two burglarized homes were on the same block.

A Maplewood man was charged Tuesday with breaking into two North County homes. Ricky Houston, 19, of the 7700 block of Bartold Avenue in Maplewood, was charged with two counts each of second-degree burglary and stealing. A St. Louis County Police report said Houston broke into a home in the 10500 block of Green Slope, near Dellwood, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. March 17 and stole a laptop computer and $200 in cash. Police said in the report that he broke into a second home in the 10500 block of Green Slope between 8:40 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. March 25 and stole two televisions, a bed sheet and $25 cash. Brentwood Resident, Police Sgt. Team Up to Stop Crime Spree

A resident on Bremerton Avenue noticed suspicious activity and notified Sgt. Jeff Manestar of the Brentwood police, which led to an arrest.

Brentwood resident Beth Clay did the right thing when she noticed a young woman pacing in front of her neighbor’s house. She notified Brentwood police Sgt. Jeff Manestar, who happened to be around the corner. Clay’s observant eye, and Manestar's handing of the situation, led to the end of a suspected crime spree by a couple from the Kansas City area in Brentwood, Maplewood, Rock Hill and Webster Groves. “I didn’t recognize her, and she sat down, paced back and forth,” Clay said. “I was waiting for her to leave, then all of a sudden I saw the male suspect, he had a backpack on his back, and the two of them walked down the street. “Luckily Jeff Manestar was around the corner,” she said. “I flagged him down, and told him that I was very …

Two Charged with Burglary in Maplewood

The pair stole jewelry and cash and caused $700 in damages, police said.

Two people were charged April 19 with burglarizing a Maplewood home. Veronica Smith, 20, of Shawnee Mission, KS, and Cameron Bennett, 23, of Kansas City, KS, were charged with burglary, stealing and property damage. According to a Maplewood Police Department report, the two broke through a door to a home in the 3400 block of Oxford Boulevard on Feb. 2 and stole jewelry and cash. They caused $700 in damage to the front door, police said in the report. Bond was set at $15,000 each for Smith and Bennett.   Smith and Bennett were also charged in connection with home burglaries in Jan. and Feb. in Brentwood in the 2400 block of Bremerton Road the 2100 block of Hatton Avenue, according to a news release from the Brentwood Police Department.

Maplewood Man Charged With Stealing Items Worth $4,500

The man is accused of burglarizing a home in the block he lived in as the owner was in the midst of a move.

A Maplewood man is accused of burglarizing and stealing items valued at more than $4,500 from a home in the midst of a move. Richard Heberer, 44, was charged with the Feb. 19 burglary and theft in the 2500 block of Gerhard Avenue. The owner was in the process of moving out of the home as a tenant was moving in. Furniture delivery workers called the tenant and told him they’d seen a gray Jeep Cherokee leaving the residence at a high rate of speed. The tenant arrived and found the house had been burglarized. Neighbors told Maplewood Police they saw Heberer, who lives in the same block, and another man enter the backyard. They also saw one of them leave through the front carrying a purple tote bag. Suspect Held After Assault and Burglary at Maplewood Apartment Complex

Leevon Hemphill, a 23-year-old man from St. Louis city, was arrested by the Maplewood Police Department on Friday.

A St. Louis City man has been arrested in connection with an assault and burglary at a Maplewood apartment complex, officials said this week. Leevon Hemphill, 23, was arrested Friday in Maplewood on suspicion of first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and armed criminal action. Hemphill is suspected of entering an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Laclede Station Road on Dec. 7 and assaulting a man with a bat, said Sgt. Matt Nighbor of the Maplewood Police Department. Maplewood police are trying to determine if the suspect knew the victim personally, Nighbor said. Police also have linked the suspect to a burglary that happened at the same apartment complex about a month ago, he said. Hemphill was being held on a $100,000 bond at …
