"Outside of a small distribution footprint in the D.C. area, New York is the first place to get Schlafly beers beyond a 300-mile radius of St. Louis," according to the report. "For Schlafly co-founder Dan Kopman, this will be his second foray into selling beer in New York. He tried it back in the '80s, when he was a stateside salesman for Young's Brewery in London. It didn't go well. He got lost on the subway and had beer equipment stolen from his rental car." Find out which Schlafly styles Benn recommends to first-timers on Esquire. Most of us in Maplewood already know that Schlafly Bottleworks is a great destination for all St. Louisans, but the craft brewery has been gaining recognition from an even wider audience for the past few years. The most recent acknowledgment comes from The Daily Meal via FoxNews.com. Bottleworks was ranked fourth on the website's list of America's 10 Best Brewery Visits, right next to Hopworks Urban Brewery and BikeBar in Portland, OR and Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, MD. The brewpub is on Clayton Avenue near the intersection of Tamm Avenue.
Brothers Jarid and Justin Safell expect their Dogtown brewpub, Heavy Riff Brewing Company, to be open by St. Patrick's Day, Feast Magazine reports. The maple wood bar is built, and will soon have the finish of an old violin. It will also have electrical outlets within easy reach of anyone on a bar stool. That's so anyone with a low cell phone battery can plug and and stay for another beer, Justin Safell told Patch. Jarid Safell told Feast about some of their beers. “Every Halloween we release our Evil Pumpkin Imperial Porter, and we're really excited about that, of course,” Jarid Safell says. “There's also our American Slang with orange peel and honey. It's our unique vibe on classic style American pale ale.” Eight or nine of the pub's 15 …
