New Tenants Moving Into Schlafly Building Soon

David Schlafly has stripped the building on Manchester Road down to its original materials.

The space at 7412 Manchester Road, David Schlafly's latest Maplewood project, is almost ready for its major tenant to move in. See some earlier photos of the work in a Facebook album. St. Louis Lighting will use approximately 8,000 of the 10,000 square feet of the space. The firm will represent manufacturers that sell high-end lighting to architects and designers. An architectural firm is leasing the remaining space. See related in Patch:

Schlafly Building to House High-End Lighting

David Schlafly is restoring the approximately 100-year-old building for a new use.

The building at 7412 Manchester Road in Maplewood, now empty, will soon have two tenants. Developer David Schlafly owns it, and said one of the new tenants has signed and the other hasn’t. The one that has signed, St. Louis Lighting, will represent manufacturers that sell high-end lighting to architects and designers. He said the second, unsigned, tenant is a company that involves light in a different way, and that hopefully they will sign soon. Schlafly restored the building at 2731 Sutton Boulevard behind it in 2008-2009. He described both as “commercial building stock, approximately century-old, brick, main street buildings, with really good timber roof systems inside.” He’s restoring the building on Manchester just as he did the Sutton…

Two Retailers Coming to Downtown Maplewood

Owner David Schlafly is rehabbing the space in the 7400 block of Manchester Road.

One of the larger unoccupied commercial spaces in downtown Maplewood will hopefully soon have tenants. David Schlafly, owner of the 10,000 square foot building at 7412 Manchester Road, won’t say yet who the tenants will be, only that there will be two of them and they will be retail. The building sits between Stricker Auto Service and Tiffany's Original Diner. (See related on Patch: QuikTrip Frustrations Underscore Maplewood Meeting) He’s doing a gut rehab that will expose the brick walls and maple floors. The false ceiling will be removed and a loft area will be built. New windows will go in the front and back of the building, and skylights will be added. The building will be named “Light Works.” He expects the work to be finished in time…
