A Florissant man is accused of robbing the First Bank branch inside the Brentwood Dierberg’s store at 8450 Eager Road on Jan. 7. Michael A. Abbott, 28, of the 1000 block of St. Brendan Lane in Florissant, was charged Saturday by St. Louis County prosecutors with first-degree robbery. Brentwood Police said Abbott handed a teller inside the bank a note that said he had a gun and demanded money. Brentwood Police arrested Abbott Friday. Brentwood police arrested a suspect shortly after First Bank in the Brentwood Dierberg’s was robbed. The store is at 8450 Eager Road. John P. Sarver, 55, of Kansas City, KS, threatened the bank teller with “a dangerous instrument” and got away with cash from the bank, police stated in court documents. Police arrested Sarver on a Metrolink platform minutes later. A witness identified Sarver as the robber and the defendant confessed to the robbery, according to the police report. Sarver is being charged with first-degree robbery. Bond has been set at $50,000.
