QuikTrip has presented at the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce and secured OKs at the county level.
QuikTrip, on the corner of Flora Avenue and Big Bend Boulevard, in Maplewood, wants to move to the northwest corner of Manchester Road and Big Bend. It would be a bigger store - what's known as a "Generation 3" QuikTrip. The Maplewood Richmond Heights School District has stated its opposition to the move. Maplewood City Manager Marty Corcoran released a statement on the project's status. In May, QuikTrip signed a lease with the property owner Elsie Lesseg, that would go into effect if the city approves the move. Any thoughts on this? Express yourself below, in the comments box! The owner is going through the governmental processes now, but knows there is opposition in the community.
QuikTrip has signed a long-term lease with the owner of the northwest corner of Manchester Road and Big Bend Boulevard. The company also has the OK from St. Louis County to incorporate right-turn lanes to accommodate traffic. Regardless of having a signed lease, the proposal needs to go to Maplewood Planning and Zoning for approval. If it passes there then it will go to the City Council. If it doesn't pass Planning and Zoning, they can still go to the council for approval. Those both for and against QuikTrip moving from its current location on Big Bend to the busier intersection are signing petitions–but no matter–the move is progressing. Cool. Let QT pay to have the intersection redesigned to fit them. They pay for it and that drops half of my reservations against it. I doubt that doing on their dime is in their plan. Open your wallets taxpayers.   more ›
