What Business Should Open in Downtown Maplewood?

Cupcake shop? Bakery? 24-hour gym? Readers submit their favorite ideas through Facebook and Twitter.

Seeing so many residents rally against the idea got me wondering, "What type of business should open in downtown Maplewood next?" On Twitter, Mackenzie Jordan (@mackenzbot) was quick to suggest a cupcake shop. She's accepting donations to start a shop if no one fills the need, by the way.  On Facebook, we had more than 15 comments from folks saying what they want to see open in downtown Maplewood, including a Thai food restaurant, 24-hour gym, frozen yogurt bar and …

MO Governor Signs School "Facebook Law" Repeals

Governor Jay Nixon signs repeals to the Missouri school social networking law, but says even the revised version has flaws. The law no longer prohibits teachers and students from communicating through some social networking outlets.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon signed Senate Bill 1, which repeals a portion a state school social networking law passed, Senate Bill 54, by the General Assembly this spring. In August, Patch reported on the controversy and confusion surrounding Senate Bill 54, also known as the Amy Hestir Student Protection Act. It is sponsored by former Ladue school board member and Missouri State Senator Jane Cunningham (R-Chesterfield) and designed to protect students.  The Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA) sued the state over ths social network portions of Senate Bill 54, claiming it was too vague. Fans Reflect on Favorite Blue Devils Games

Maplewood-Brentwood Patch gave away two tickets to Saturday's championship game and a $30 dinner for two at the Red Lion to one lucky fan.

Maplewood-Brentwood Patch ran a contest on Monday and Tuesday and asked you, the readers, to tell us your favorite Blue Devils moment from this year's undefeated season. As a reward for your participation, we gave away two tickets to Saturday's championship game at the dome and a $30 dinner for two at the Red Lion to one lucky fan. In a random drawing, Rosalind Collins won the package. Her favorite game was the first match-up between MRH and Northwest Academy. On Maplewood-Brentwood Patch's Facebook, Rosalind writes, "The best game was the 1st MRH vs Northwest...just because it was so much hype in the beginning and MRH became victorious." We collected the other moments that were posted on Facebook and included them below. Several people…
