Galleria to Host Homeless, Larry Rice Says
The Rev. Larry Rice has previously suggested that Richmond Heights open a homeless shelter in light of the death of Anna Brown. The mall plan was first reported Tuesday in the Riverfront Times.
Dozens of people who are homeless are expected to spend extended periods of time this week at the Saint Louis Galleria in Richmond Heights as part of a religious leader's efforts, the Riverfront Times reported. Quoting from the Riverfront Times article: "Reverend Larry Rice is poised to pull off another high-profile attempt to house St. Louis's homeless—in the Galleria mall in Richmond Heights. Starting Thursday afternoon, the ritzy shopping center is becoming, in Rice's words, a 'day center.'" Here's a thought for Larry Rice - why don't you buy up some of the vacant homes in North St. Louis and have the homeless renovate them. These homes a large enough for several people to live in. It will not only give them a home and some skills but also pride in themselves. They might even have enough confidence to get a job and help pay expenses. Just a thought... more ›
