Eagles Look to Recover From Friday's Loss

Brentwood aims to rebound when it plays North Callaway next week.

Lutheran South was once a team that Brentwood could easily beat, but on Friday night, in front of Brentwood's homecoming crowd, this Lancers team had a different plan. The Eagle’s three-game winning streak came to an abrupt end after they lost to the Lancers 8-46. “They’re a good team, but we didn’t play up to our potential and just had a terrible night on defense,” Brentwood coach Keith Herring said. “Things didn’t happen for us. Lutheran South Wears Down Brentwood in Second Half

Lancers overcome turnovers and a halftime deficit to beat Eagles, 45-14.

AFTON – If style points were ever a factor in high school football, both Brentwood and Lutheran South would have failed to score any bonus points during their mistake-plagued contest Friday night. When the Lancers, who turned the ball over three times, managed not to get in their own way, they were able to simply wear down the Eagles. The Lancers scored 36 unanswered points en route to a 45-14 victory at the newly named Gornet Field. "We imploded," Brentwood head coach Scott Surgener said. "They're not a 45 to 14 team better than us, but they did a good job. What they do, they do well. But we just didn't help ourselves in the second half."
