MRH, Brentwood District Football Begins Friday

In the new Missouri system, every team has a shot at a state title.

High school football coaches have been busy cramming about prospective opponents over the weekend. They left the field Friday and Saturday afternoon, still not quite sure who they'd be playing this week in the new state football playoff system that now includes the "district system" used in other sports, with seeding thanks to a point differential that made every score count. Saturday evening, that schedule was released. Here's how it all will start shaking out. MRH and Brentwood are both in Class 2, District 2. Both are home games for our teams. MRH is the no. 1 seed in the district. Brentwood is the no. 2 seed. You can search the entire playoff bracket by going to the Missouri State High School Activities Association website.

No Sanctions for MRH Football

The team self-reported its MSHSAA infraction.

There will be no penalty for a Maplewood Richmond Heights football team infraction of a MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association) rule. The Blue Devils hosted Carnahan in a preseason jamboree, but a third team wasn't there, which made it an illegal jamboree by MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association) rules. The St. Louis Post Dispatch stated that MRH reported its own infraction to MSHSAA. MRH Director of Communications Brian Adkisson said MSHSAA leveled no sanctions against the team, in large part because it was self-reported. MRH (3-0) travels to Park Hills Central (2-1) for a 7 p.m. game on Friday. Brentwood (2-1) plays Cleveland (0-2) at Southwest High School at 1:30 Saturday afternoon. More football …
