Zero Auto Accidents in Maplewood, Brentwood on Snowiest Day in Years

Folks stayed home or were careful drivers on the snowy day.

Both Maplewood and Brentwood police departments said Monday morning that snowy Sunday was accident-free. Many in the area received up to 12 inches of snow. "I don't see any accidents reported for March 24," Maplewood Police Sgt. Matt Nighbor said, when he pulled up the records for Sunday. "I guess people heeded the advice and stayed off the roads." Brentwood dispatcher Jason Oesterreicher had the same good news. "The last couple days have been extremely quiet," Oesterreicher said. Did you brave the snowy roads? Police Catch Suspect Who Stole Truck with Man in Bed

The vehicle was stolen last week from Maplewood Commons.

Last week, a man jumped into the bed of his pickup truck as it was being stolen from Maplewood Commons.  Maplewood Police announced Tuesday that they have arrested the suspect in the case. The suspect, a 28-year-old East St. Louis, IL man, is currently being held in the St. Clair County Jail on unrelated charges. Maplewood detectives will be applying for warrants on multiple charges at the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Victim Fights With Thief Through Broken Window as Stolen Truck Barrels Down Highway 40

The truck owner saw the truck leaving the Maplewood Commons parking lot, and jumped into the bed before it sped north.

A pickup truck was stolen Thursday around noon from the Maplewood Commons shopping center with the owner in the truck bed. Maplewood Police report that as the truck's owner was walking out of the business, the owner saw the truck leaving the parking lot. The victim chased the truck around the parking lot then jumped into the bed of the truck. The suspect drove north on Hanley Road and east on Highway 40. The owner broke out the back window of the truck and tried to force the suspect to stop, as the truck was going over the speed limit. The suspect then slowed and stopped on the shoulder of the highway. Both the suspect and the victim got out. The victim received minor injuries, then the suspect got back in the truck and drove away, going …

Multiple Windows Shattered by BB Guns, Maplewood and Richmond Heights Police Say

Police in both cities report car windows damaged by BB guns, and ask for any information that could lead to an arrest.

The police departments in both Maplewood and Richmond Heights have recently reported windows being damaged by a BB gun. In Maplewood, police reported a vehicle window shattered by a shot from a BB gun on Jan. 25 in the 7500 block of West Bruno Avenue. Multiple vehicle windows were damaged the same way in the evening of Jan. 20 in the 2500 block of Valley Avenue. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call Maplewood police at 314-645-3000 or the anonymous tip line at 314-781-3733. In Richmond Heights, there have been numerous incidents of car and house windows being damaged by BB guns, police report. The damage has been mostly in Council Districts 1 & 2 (see map).
