MRH Girls Run With 8,000 Others Downtown

The elementary school girls ran in the Girls on the Run race Saturday morning.

A group of about a dozen Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary were among 200 schools from 19 counties to come to the 10th annual Girls On the Run five kilometer race. The girls prepared for the run with a curriculum that included running, as well as 20 lessons to inspire them to become independent thinkers, to enhance their problem solving skills and make healthy decisions. Maplewood Boy Scout Troop Serves Pancakes at Maplewood United Methodist

Sunday was Boy Scout Sunday, and the troop chartered by Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary hosted a brunch for the church as a thank you.

The usually active Maplewood United Methodist Church was even busier on Sunday. Boy Scouts from Troop 362 and their families filled in extra spots in the pews. It was the annual Boy Scout Sunday observance. The troop has about 50 members. See more photos at Maplewood-Brentwood Patch Facebook. The scouts served pancakes, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and sausages to the congregation after the service. The troop normally meets at MRH Elementary on Thursday nights, but when a scheduling conflict comes up, the church allows the troop to meet there. The pancakes were a thank you. Each scout and leader of the troop has a small "80" stitched onto his uniform to indicate how many years the troop has been in existence. It's one of the oldest …

Benefit Concert Will Aid Richmond Heights Students

Concert for a Cause happens Aug. 22 at Ryan Hummert Park.

A benefit concert planned next month at Ryan Hummert Park will help students at a Richmond Heights elementary school. Donations of specified food items and suitcases on wheels will be accepted during Concert for a Cause at 6 p.m. Aug. 22. The items will benefit students at Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary School in Richmond Heights and at the Maplewood Richmond Heights Early Childhood Center in Maplewood. Maplewood band UJ & The Down Home Blues will perform at the event, which is sponsored by the Maplewood Community Betterment Foundation and the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District. MRH and Gateway Arch Will Collaborate for Curriculum

The Maplewood Richmond Heights School District announced the arrangement on its website.

Educators hope a partnership between one Richmond Heights school and the Gateway Arch will improve curriculum, the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District reported on its website. Quoting from the article about MRH Elementary School: "A grant from the National Park Service awarded in June to the Gateway Arch will support a partnership between the National Expansion Memorial (the Gateway Arch) and MRH Elementary School." Meet the New MRH Elementary Principals

Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary School has a new principal and assistant principal. Meet them at coffees on the next two Wednesdays.

Last Wednesday, two new Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary School administrators with about a dozen parents in the gym over coffee, lemonade and cookies. Principal Jason Adams told the parents that MRH has been his "destination district." "All of the initiatives that are happening in the district: small community, peace—that’s who I am, that’s very important to me," he said. He said he comes from Parkway, a much larger district, and he's excited to be at MRH Elementary. He said he and Assistant Principal Jonathan Strong have personally hired many of the new staff for the year. A letter stating his goals for the year is posted on the MRH website and on Patch. Girls On The Run, Social Run Through Maplewood

As part of Maplewood's Women Making History Month, Maplewood-based Girls on the Run St. Louis held a social run through Maplewood streets.

The handful of runners who showed up for the Girls on the Run social run had a choice of a 1, 3 or 5-mile run, starting from the office, on Sutton Avenue. It was beautiful out, and they chose the 3-mile run. Girls on the Run teaches life lessons to elementary and middle school-age girls, as they get into shape by running. At the end of the program is a race. Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary and Middle School girls take part in the program. In the St. Louis area, Girls on the Run is currently working with 2,597 girls in 127 schools. Youngsters Become Anchors at MRHE 97 News

The TV program is a service of Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary School, the school reported on its website.

Students are getting experience in TV at Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary School in Richmond Heights as part of MRHE 97 News. Quoting from the school's website: "Sixth grade students meet daily during block to research, create scripts and prepare videos for reports on important and trending topics. Jason Adams Named MRH Elementary Principal; Michael Dittrich Joins MRH Middle

The administrators will begin their new roles in the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District on July 1.

Two new administrators will provide leadership at Maplewood Richmond Heights elementary and middle schools starting July 1, the MRH School District announced late Tuesday morning. Jason Adams will become principal at MRH Elementary School, while Michael Dittrich will become assistant principal at MRH Middle School. “We are delighted to have both Jason and Mike join our MRH family,” stated Dr. Linda Henke, the district's superintendent, in a news release. “Both are wonderful additions for our district and we have the utmost confidence in their commitment to our students our mission.” Adams previously served as assistant principal of Ross Elementary School in the Parkway School District and as a teacher at Tillman Elementary School in the …

Dr. Tony Arnold to Join Webster Groves School District

He is principal of Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary School.

Dr. Tony Arnold will leave Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary School to become a principal in Webster Groves, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Quoting from the Post-Dispatch: "Anthony Arnold has been hired as principal of Avery Elementary School in the Webster Groves district, effective July 1."
