Maclin, who moved to his new position in University City this year, has lost more than 140 pounds since the beginning of the school year, according to a KSDK report.
Former Maplewood Richmond Heights High School Assistant Principal Mike Maclin’s job wasn’t the only thing he decided to change for the new school year. Maclin, who took the post of principal at University City High School, started the school year at 395 pounds, KSDK reports. A strict diet has contributed to the loss of 143 pounds, he told KSDK. Maplewood Richmond Heights one-year athletic director Malcolm Hill will be an assistant principal at University City High School, not athletic director, as originally planned. He said he knew it was a possibility. "It’s something I went to school for," he said. "I'm pretty sure I’ll do a good job at it. I’ll be able to do good things over there." Hill said he had partial assistant principal duties at Normandy High School, where he was before MRH. "When I came to Maplewood I was fully for athletics, and I was fine with that, but this opportunity presented itself, as possibly being an assistant principal," he said. Maclin will be the principal at University City High School starting next year. He said his good-bye on a video.
MRH Vice Principal Mike Maclin announced in the beginning of March that he is leaving MRH to be principal at University City. His farewell video was posted on the MRH website. In his good-bye to MRH, he said it will always be in his heart. He said the people are what make MRH special, and that he has developed some genuine friendships, which is the tough part of leaving. "Love you guys," he concluded.
